WHRI Intensive: July 3 – 20, 2018
Founded in 2004 by Costa Rican feminist jurist and activist Alda Facio, the WHRI Intensive institute combines an online learning program with 3 weeks of in-class learning to delve deeply into CEDAW and women’s human rights activism and education. Participants will gain competency in understanding and utilizing CEDAW and women’s human rights frameworks for analysis and activism, as well as exploring a diverse range women’s issues through a transformative and holistic curriculum oriented towards personal and social change.

The WHRI Intensive is co-facilitated by: Angela Lytle (WHRI ED) & Anya Victoria (WHRI LAC Program Director), with special guests including Meskerem Geset (Rapporteur of UN WGDAW), Dr. Debby Danard (Indigenous Knowledge-keeper), Terry Ince (CEDAW Committee of Trinidad & Tobago), Mary Eberts (Human Rights expert), Kenita Placide (SOGI Rights expert) and more to be announced! WHRI Intensive Tuition: $3500 USD
Discounted rate: Unwaged participants, full-time students and staff of women’s organizations with an annual budget of less than USD $80,000 are automatically eligible for the discounted tuition rate of $2500 USD. Multiple participants from a single organization may be eligible for a discount, please inquire at info@learnwhr.org.
CEDAW for Change: July 3 – 7, 2018
This one-week educational institute focuses on understanding and utilizing the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and other mechanisms of the women’s human rights system as tools for activism, feminist analysis and women’s human rights movement-building. The core principles and functions of CEDAW as tools for activism and feminist analysis will be explored, ensuring that all participants will be able to ground diverse women’s issues in a women’s human rights framework.

Note: The WHRI offers a limited number of discounts and fee waivers for each program, with a focus on WHR defenders from the Global South, Indigenous women activists, young women activists, LBT activists, dis/ability rights activists, and representatives of underfunded organizations with small annual budgets. We also offer discounts for full-time students and those on a very limited income, on a case by case basis.
